first wash
We produce our Spec-Ops Masks in large quantities, the manufacturing process including dying or printing (depending on colour), and although the materials are always vat washed prior to final manufacture, in order to ensure that any production residues are removed, washing is highly recommended prior to first use.
In order to maintain the quality and shape of your mask, we advise Hand Washing Only, using WARM (not HOT) water and a small amount of general-purpose washing powder or liquid.
Machine Washing is NOT Advised, due to the constant movement within the Drum which may distort the shape of not only the Stainless Steel, but also the padding around it.
Once you have hand washed your mask, allow it to drip dry / Air dry, avoid ringing the material out as this may cause breakages In the fibres of the material.
DO NOT TUMBLE DRY OR IRON
MAINTENANCE WASHING
It is NOT necessary to wash your mask after each use, unless the mask is highly contaminated with materials such as mud or sweat etc. general maintenance washes are personal preference but we advise every 2-4 uses for good product maintenance. hand washes should be carried as per the directions above, this maintains the quality of the mask and removes any natural contaminates.
SHAPING YOUR MASK
Once you have washed your mask and allowed it to fully air dry, its time for the shaping.
We produce a number of mask designs, with a basic overview of “Under the Nose” or “Over the Nose”. We are in the process of producing a video for detailed shaping, which shall be linked [HERE] when available, however, for basic fitment, please read on.
To fit the mask snugly, but comfortably to your face, you will need to make some adjustments to the Stainless Steel mesh, this is a one-step process (Mesh Masks) or a two-step process (Sierra Masks), for a step by step picture guide, please click the link below.
